In the early days, Lonetree was pioneering setting up PCG churches with computer based accounting (anyone remember those late 70's computers?) and consulting with church administration. Upon accepting a position from Dr. James D. Gee at Full Gospel Church in Concord, CA as associate Pastor in charge of Administration, Lonetree founder Dr. Jim Davis saw the need for a wider range of financial, tax, and administrative services for PCG ministers and churches. It was becoming clear and obvious the enormous amounts of misinformation that PCG churches and ministers were receiving in regards to tax law and compliance. Many Pastors had no tax strategies taking advantage of the structure of the PCG and how it relates to the Tax Code. Most taxes were being prepared as if Pastors were hired staff like many of the other denominations at the time. With enormous amounts of research, debates, tax court rulings, and audits, Lonetree paved a new path and became the most proficient and widely sought tax and financial firm for PCG ministers and Churches.
Lonetree has been specializing in taxes and other financial and administrative services for PCG ministers, churches, and districts since 1978. We currently serve PCG ministers in over 20 different districts, including several District and General officers.
